City of Welcome/Peace
Our community has been a place of refuge for centuries. From the Quakers and Amish/Mennonites seeking peace and religious freedom in the 1700's, to the robust underground railroad efforts in the 1800's, to the strong, community supported organizations assisting refugees from around the world today; Lancaster has a tradition of welcome to those who are seeking peace and freedom. It is our hope that we remain a welcoming beacon of light to all who search for it and we honor the Lancastrians working to weave a tapestry of tolerance within our community.
